CH : 6 - KANAY & TRIPTI

mujhe bhi pyaar dedo :’))

AVYUKTTA'S pov

“Offo didi, chalo na! Aapke liye surprise hai.”

‘Ab ye ladki kahan le jaa rahi hai?’ I kept struggling to walk after Kanay as she tugged at my hand, almost making me trip. She kept running, making me run after her, and finally stopped in front of the door that led to the rooftop.

“Ab yahan se aage ka safar aapko akele hi tay karna hoga, di,” she said, being her dramatic self.

“Nautanki,” I muttered, rolling my eyes, and continued, “Let the surprise wait. Wahan sab nikalne waale hain aur tu mujhe yahan kheench layi. Ab hat jaane de.”

“Arey di, aaj koi kahin nahi jaayega,” she said.

“Kya matlab?”

“Matlab-watlab chhodo aur apne surprise ke paas jao,” she said and pushed me through the gate.

“Kanay, tu kya bol rahi–” I couldn’t finish my sentence because someone grabbed my hand and pulled me toward them. And suddenly, I was on our rooftop, in front of him.

POV End

KANAY'S pe

My sister just vanished from in front of me. ‘Jiju toh already gone case hai.’ I chuckled and walked away, heading to the kitchen to finally put something in my stomach.

As I reached downstairs, I saw all our guests seated again, chatting with my parents. My mother spotted me and told me to prepare the guest rooms as their flight had been cancelled due to sudden downpour—which, frankly, made me smirk internally.

I nodded and made my way to the kitchen, fixed myself a simple sandwich, and ate quietly. After that, I headed to the guest rooms and began placing all the essentials they might need. It took me about half an hour to prepare all three rooms.

I was making some last arrangements when I felt a presence behind me. I turned, only to be face-to-chest with someone. I looked up, ready to give them an earful for sneaking up on me, but the words vanished the moment I met his eyes.

AARYAN SINGHANIYA.

I kept staring at him—and he at me. A chill crept up my spine when I felt his hands on my waist as he pulled me closer than I already was.

POV End

“J-ji, aap yahan?” Kanay asked.

“Ji, hum yahan,” he leaned in closer to her ear, whispering, “Aapke paas.”

Kanay inhaled a deep breath, trying (keyword: trying) to calm herself before asking,

“Mujhse aapko koi kaam hai?”

“Bilkul hai.”

“Kya?”

“Main soch raha tha ki agar yeh shaadi ho gayi toh aapki didi toh wahan akeli ho jaayengi.”

“Woh toh hai, par mujhe malum hai ki wahan didi ko sab achhe se rakhenge.”

“Mere paas better idea hai.”

“Kya hai woh?” Kanay let her curiosity take over.

“Aap bhi us pariwar ka hissa ban jaaiye... toh aap behne saath mein rahengi.”

He said this while gently caressing her cheek. Kanay understood where this was going—and she liked it—but decided to act innocent.

“Haan, lekin phir Tripti akeli ho jaayegi na... aur woh toh sabse chhoti hai. Akele kaise rahegi woh?”

“Aap unki chinta mat kijiye. Jaise main yahan aapke saath aapki didi ke akelepan ka ilaaj dhoondh raha hoon, waise hi woh bhi kisi ke saath yahi ilaaj dhoondh rahi hongi.”

“Aap teeno bhai koi plan bana ke aaye the kya?”

“Pehle toh nahi banaya tha, par aapko dekh ke family plan karne ka mann kar raha hai.”

He gently kissed Kanay's wrist before walking away, leaving her completely flustered.

As soon as he left the room, Kanay's knees gave out. She dropped onto the bed, cheeks flushed like the early morning sun, breath shallow.

“Kanay, Tripti, Avyuktta zara yahan aana! Meri thodi madad kar do,” Anuradha called out.

“J-ji Maa, aati hoon,” Kanay replied, rushing out.

All three sisters reached the kitchen.
“Ji maa.”
“Ji maa.”
“Ji chachi.”
They said in unison.

“Arey, khaana lagane mein thodi madad kar do meri,” Anuradha said, glancing up.

“Arey Avyu aur Kanay, tum dono ka muh itna laal kyun hai?” She asked, touching their foreheads.

“Arey Maa, itni garmi hai na aaj, kya hi bolun main,” Kanay answered quickly.

“Haan wahi wahi chachi,” Avyuktta joined in.

Anuradha gave them a weird look. “Barish ho rahi hai bahar.”

GHOR SANNATA. . . . .

“Maa aap khaana lagao na. Unhe bhook lagi hogi. Didi aao aao, thaaliyaan lagao.”

“Haan haan main thaaliyaan deti hoon, tu khaana laga. Tripti tu kheer paros.”

Anuradha looked at them like they had grown horns but resumed making puris.

TIME SKIP

Everyone was seated at the dining table, surrounded by a variety of mouthwatering dishes. The rainy weather gave a peaceful ambiance to the lively chatter. Some talked about daily life, some about the wedding, some sneaked glances at each other, while others devoured the food.
One person, however, did none of this. Tripti shamelessly stared at Mridul, who remained unfazed and focused on his food.

“Oi, daal diyo,” Kanay said. No response.

“Oi, tu sun rahi ha–” she was cut off as Aaryan passed her the daal with a soft smile.

“Thank you.”

“Ji, welcome.”

The elderly ladies definitely noticed that something was cooking—but chose to let it simmer. The males, oblivious.

Then Tripti suddenly declared,“Maine decide kar liya hai.”

Everyone turned to her in silence.

“Kya, beta?” Abhinav finally asked.

“Mujhe shaadi karni hai.”

Abhinav choked on his food.
“K-kya boli beta?” he sputtered.

“Haan papa, mujhe shaadi karni hai.”

“Par kyun?” “Kisse?”Abhinav and Anuradha, they both asked.

Tripti simply turned toward Mridul and said, “Inse.”

“Inse kinse beta?” Abhinav said, terrified.

“Mridul ji, papa.”

Mridul, who had been peacefully eating, choked and started coughing. Akshat and Shiv followed suit. The ladies squealed.

“Ye lijiye paani,” Tripti said sweetly, handing him water.

“Arey waah beta, bahut accha decision liya hai tumne,” said Parvati.

“Thank you aunty.”

“Beta, ab toh maa bulao.”

“Ji Maa ji.”

Abhinav looked like he might cry. Anuradha had already gone to fetch sweets.

“Toh humein kyun chhodh rakha hai?” Aaryan asked, glancing at Kanay, who now found the mattar in mattar paneer deeply fascinating.

“Haan haan beta, tu bhi behti Ganga mein haath dho le,” added Parvati.

“Arey yahan ho kya raha hai? Mujhse toh poochho ki mujhe shaadi karni bhi hai ya nahi,” said Mridul, panicked.

“Tu chup ho jaa. Kitni pyaari bachiyan hain, hamara ghar toh raunak se bhar uthega,” said Shivani.

Mridul looked at Tripti like ‘Are you serious?’ Tripti winked and blew him a flying kiss.

‘Ye ladki pagal-wagal toh nahi hai?’
‘Haan, tere liye.’
‘Not the time to joke!’ he scolded himself, when his mother’s voice echoed in the room,

“Toh phir pakka raha. Kal subah pandit ji aayenge. Sab kundliyan dekh ke faisla karenge.”

‘Hey Bhagwan, ye kya ho raha hai?’ thought Mridul.

Everyone was in some kind of emotional zone—some ecstatic, some blushing, some shy, and only two were traumatised.

‘Ye ladki danger hai…’ Mridul thought, gulping hard as Tripti eyed him like she’d devour him whole.
